Edward Moawad is a Founder and Partner of Adams, Burton & Moawad, P.C. His practice focuses on investment immigration, intellectual property, technology transfer and licensing, nonprofit organization, general business, taxation and corporate, and appellate advocacy. In addition to being a civil litigator, Mr. Moawad has provided counsel to clients on intellectual property protection and licensing matters, as well as trademark, copyright, and unfair practices in businesses that range from the “famous” in the entertainment industry to pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Moawad has served as lead counsel in a seminal human rights lawsuit on behalf of a jailed and a well-known journalist. The defendants in Mr. Saharkhiz’s case were multiple global conglomerates that included Siemens, A.G. of Germany and Nokia Corporation of Finland.
Edward Moawad has over eight years of investment, business management, and personal finance experience. Prior to founding Adams, Burton & Moawad P.C., he has worked at: the United States Department of Commerce, Office of the General Counsel, Commercial Law Development Program; New Markets Venture Partners - Closed End Venture Capital Company; the Biotechnology Institute of the University System of Maryland, Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization; the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Departments of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering; and Manager of multimillion dollar portfolio of private accounts and trusts involving complex fiduciary and tax matters.
As the primary author, Mr. Moawad published several articles in leading scientific journals. Mr. Moawad has over five years of academic research experience. His groundbreaking work on the measurement of mechanical properties of living cells at the micro-scale level has been cited numerous times in scientific and other academic publications and continues to be cited by leading experts today.
Mr. Edward Moawad is extensively involved in charitable work. In addition to a broad pro bono public practice within his own law firm, Mr. Moawad serves as Board Member or Chairman of the Board of more than three Foundations and maintains an active role in leveraging his corporate law and governance experience to the benefit of charitable institutions within the Washington Metropolitan area.
